Certified Nurse-Midwives care for healthy, low-risk women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. The CNM encourages women to be self-reliant, to trust their own bodies to deliver healthy babies naturally.

During pregnancy the nurse-midwife monitors a woman's health and that of her baby. She teaches and answers questions regarding nutrition, hygiene, exercise and the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.

During labor the CNM evaluates a woman's progress and health as well as the well-being of the baby. She offers emotional and physical support and may also instruct support people. The nurse-midwife facilitates the delivery to be as natural and uncomplicated as possible.

CNMs evaluate and provide immediate care for the newborn, help the mother breastfeed, and teach her how to care for herself and her infant.

CNMs and physicians work together in a collaborative relationship that provides for consultation, collaborative management or referral as indicated by the health status of the woman and her baby.

CNMs also offer well-woman gynecology services such as yearly exams and paps. At HBH we offer perimenopausal care with an emphasis on herbs and other natural aids.

HBH offers food allergy testing for over 200 different foods. This testing is done with one simple blood draw.
